Breakdown: What Happens During a Replacement
Here’s how the process works:
- Prep & Removal (10–15 mins)
We protect your vehicle, remove wipers and trim, and cut away the old glass. - Surface Cleaning & Primer (10 mins)
The pinch weld (where the glass sits) is cleaned, primed, and prepped for bonding. - Glass Installation (10–15 mins)
The new windshield is precisely placed using OEM-grade adhesives and tools. - Cure Time & Final Inspection (15–20 mins)
The adhesive sets (cures), and we double-check everything—alignment, seal, sensors, etc.
Can You Drive Right After?
Not immediately. Most adhesives require a safe drive-away time (SDAT)—typically around 30 to 60 minutes. This ensures the glass is bonded and safe in the event of a crash.
We’ll tell you exactly when it’s safe to drive after your install.
What Factors Affect the Time?
- Vehicle type (larger windshields or complex trim = more time)
- Sensors/cameras (ADAS-equipped vehicles may need calibration)
- Weather (extreme heat or cold can affect cure time, but we plan for it)
- Glass availability (rare models may require sourcing first)
What If You Have Rain Sensors or ADAS?
Many modern vehicles come with:
- ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
- Lane departure sensors
- Rain-sensing wipers
- Heads-up displays
In those cases, we’ll either recalibrate on-site or coordinate the calibration afterward—adds time, but we’ll handle the logistics.
